One Thousand: Butternut Squash

Tonight I'm making butternut squash and sweet potato soup. Right now the squash and the potatoes are in the oven roasting. I love the colour of the squash. It's such a beautiful orange and I love the web of seeds.

Gift #51: Butternut squash

Sportago/St. Helena Cyclery Photoshoot

I just thought these were a few cute pictures from the photoshoot we did last week for Sportago and St. Helena Cyclery. These aren't ones that are going to be used so I thought I'd post them. :)

One Thousand: Sleeping, kumquats, and warm weather

Well I didn't quite reach my goal of 50 yesterday. I made it to 49 and then made it to 50 this morning.

Enjoy!

Gift #48: Waking up next to my husband

Gift #49: Sour kumquats off the tree

Gift #50: Enjoying the first really warm weather of spring

One Thousand: Carpet, Worship, Views, Hair, Leaves, and Sunsets

This is going to be quite a hefty post today! I've been really bad lately about updating the blog with "gifts". This past week has been crazy. I finally get to breathe with three days off work where I don't have to do anything if I don't want to! I'm incapable of sitting and doing nothing though, so I'm using my time to edit lots of photos and enjoy the GORGEOUS weather.

Here are my overdue photos.

I know this may seem like a trivial gift but it's nice not to have to walk on the cold floor all the time.

Gift #42: Carpet to walk on

You can't really see me in this photo but I'm there singing! I'm so thankful to be able to be on this fantastic worship band. They are all such amazing musicians!

Gift #43: Being a part of such a great worship band

Try not to be too jealous, but this is the view that I get to see at work every time I'm there. Simply beautiful. Never gets old.

Gift #44: Beautiful view from work

I love the feeling of clean hair. So refreshing.

Gift #45: Having clean hair

I couldn't decide which photo I liked best so I used both. :) Because of our gorgeous weather, the trees have started growing and flowering already. It's fabulous. What that means for the rest of the year's weather and plants, I don't know, but for now it's great. What I love about this tree is the texture of the leaves. I love the ripples and the amazing greenness.

Gift #46: Texture on leaves

The sunset the other night was amazing. Colors all from the Painter's brush onto a vast canvas.

Gift #47: Colors on the canvas sky

Marissa+Kevin {Sneak Peek}

We had such a wonderful photo shoot today with a Marissa and Kevin visiting from Chico. They are such lovely people that we wish we could get to know more!

The shoot took place at the Bale Grist Mill just south of Calistoga. It's this great rustic mill that provided a great backdrop for photos. Their dog Louise then joined us for a few "family" photos! As the story is told, this dog loves skateboarding. So to get her attention all we have to say was "you wanna skate?" So cute! Her ears perked right up!

After the mill we headed over to a beautiful yellow mustard field. We were not the only ones. Apparently it's a very popular destination.

Thank you both for allowing us to photograph your relationship!

Here's a little sneak peak. :)

Songbird by Eva Cassidy or Fleetwood Mac

I decided that I wanted to put a little music on the blog today. This song has been stuck in my head all day, so I decided to sing it for you. :)

One Thousand: Drawing, Candles, Perspective

You may have seen this picture on Scott's new blog (if you haven't taken a look, check out Scott's Portfolio and support his dreams!) but I think it signifies one of the things I love most about my husband. I love seeing him pursue what he loves. I love watching him draw and seeing him explore something he's passionate about. And he's pretty darn good at what he does. I'm not so good with the drawing.

Gift #39: Watching my husband draw

There is something that makes me happy about cute little candles. These boat candles were given to us by our neighbours for watching their cat while they were gone.....in August. I haven't wanted to burn them because they are so cute! But last night Scott drew me up a bath and lit these candles for me. How relaxing....for a few minutes and then I started sweating so I got out.

Gift #40: Cute little candles

Those of you who are married will probably understand this gift. I love being able to see my husband from another room. I'm comforted by the knowledge that he's so close.

One Thousand: Roasted Marshmallows

I adore roasted marshmallows. I love when the outside catches on fire and you are left with a crispy smokey shell and a gooey centre. However, we don't exactly have a fire at the ready to roast the marshmallows on so we use our stove.

Gift #37: Roasting marshmallows over the stove

One Thousand: Plants, Bubbles, and Clothes

I've been so excited lately to get up and see how much my little plants have grown. I love how such a big plant that produces big vegetables like peppers can grow from something so small! It's a constant source of amazement!

Gift #34: the little buds that grow into big plants

This idea is not completely my own. While reading One Thousand Gifts last night, the author mentioned that one of her gifts was soap suds and I thought, so true! I love playing with bubbles. So I kind of stole the idea as one of my gifts too.

Gift #35: Playing with soap suds

Lately I seem to be battling with my wardrobe. I have the top but not the bottoms. I have the dress but not the tights. I have the shoes but not the outfit. However, despite all of that, I have to remember how blessed I am to even have half the wardrobe that I have.

Gift #36: Having clothes to wear

One Thousand: Four Leaf Clovers and Old Wine

I started my new job on Tuesday as a wine server/educator in the tasting room of Cade Estate Winery. It's a gorgeous property on top of Howell Mountain with the most delicious wine. Worth a visit if you ever come to Napa Valley! It is a "green" winery that uses organic farming. If you ever seen a bottle in store, buy it! You won't be sorry! :)

On my third day of work yesterday, we had a lovely group of tasters in. Pretty much everyone that I've met so far is so interesting! One lady though left and then came back with two four leaf clovers for myself and a co-worker of mine. I've never seen a four leaf clover!

Gift #32: Rare four leaf clovers

Last night Scott and I went to our friend's house (Jen with her fiancé Marshall that you saw in the past posts) for another friend's birthday. During our yummy homemade dinner Marshall whipped out a bottle of 1985 from Stelzner. This winery has just been bought over by the winery I work for so it will be rarer to find now. This is the oldest wine I've ever had. YUM.

Gift #33: Wine from 1985

Jen + Marshall {Engagement}: Part III

Yes, expect a few more of them. :)

Look at those big beautiful eyes!

Jen + Marshall {Engagement}: Part II

Ok, I didn't want to do a million separate posts of Jen and Marshall's engagement session....but oh well! I got so excited about this photo I just had to post it!

Jen+Marshall {Engagement}

Here's is just one of many photos to come from the engagement shoot of Jen and Marshall. This couple means SO much to us. We love them to pieces, and if for no other reason, they are a reason that we moved to the Napa Valley. It was so much fun capturing their love and laughter today. We hope for many many years of friendship to come! We love you guys!

Andrea {Part II}

Here's the rest of them! I am so thankful that Andrea agreed to be my model for the evening. I think these are some lovely shots of her and if you are in need of a model yourself, look her up! She's fantastic!
